Recommended by the Sunday Times as the place to go on the coast for posh pizzas, kebabs, tacos, lethal cocktails and halloumi fries.
What People Say About Elder & Wolf:
Oh dear Lord. This place is incredible. Book ahead….as in weeks ahead, to grab your taste of char-grilled perfection. Chilled-out urban vibe, artisan drinks and incredible Eastern tastes. Superb staff who are friendly, efficient and darn good at their jobs. Don’t even think….just book. You shan’t be disappointed. Thanks for having us. Until next time….tomorrow?!
Great food, really delicious. Fantastic service despite being a busy evening, lovely, friendly, and helpful staff. Good vibe to the place, felt relaxed and well looked after.
Love this place! Food and cocktails were superb. Great to see young staff members engaging and genuinely caring. Well done E&W. We will be back! David & Polly
Absolutely amazing food…and even more amazing service! Completely recommend, the team could not be nicer! Super personable, funny and kind, swift service.
Messaged for a table and was told they were fully booked, walked by on chance anyway to see if there was a space to find someone hadn’t turned up and we could have a table for an hour. Sat down and was fed the most amazing woodfired pizza, tacos and halloumi fries and even though the staff were ran of their feet we both felt the service and atmosphere was spot on. All I can say is no wonder this place is so busy and while it was good we did get a table, we will definitely book in advance in future as we would have stayed much longer and I hear that tables can be booked for all night if booked in advance.
Exciting food, electric atmosphere, friendliest staff and best cocktails ever. There were 6 of us in total and everyone of us said it was possibly one of the best places we have been for food, cocktails and service. Already booked our next table and can’t wait to come back. Thank you E&W!
Probably the best place I have eaten outside of London and the cocktails beat anywhere I’ve been in the UK and judging by the crowd they had in and the people waiting and calling for tables I can see why this place is so popular.
I have eaten both in the restaurant and had takeaway/delivery service and every time it is impeccable. Delicious kebabs, enormous tasty pizzas and the halloumi fries are exceptional. Tastiest food around! Additionally, staff are always friendly and I love the whatsapp messaging service, very efficient!
Ordered a takeaway service to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Absolutely amazing food. We ordered the Kebab feast deal for the 2 of us and it was epic. Can’t wait to visit again once we are able, however in the meantime the takeaway service is ideal. Thanks so much!
Just been for a meal out with family in the newly created outdoor area and can honestly say the food is still 100% the best you can get on the coast. Huge portions, big tastes, great cocktails and still the friendliest, happiest staff serving you. Wasn’t sure if it would work sitting outside but have booked to go back next week due to having such a good night. Plus the heaters and covered roof helped keep us all warm 🙂
Fantastic pizzas and cocktails last night in the pergola and the halloumi fries are amazing! Really looking forward to our next visit!!
Fantastic! Absolutely FANTASTIC, everything from the kebabs to the customer service, couldn’t recommend Elder and Wolf enough. Well worth every penny.
Second visit tonight and what an amazing place, if I could give more stars I would. Although it was just the second time I had been i received an amazing welcome. Staff are great, food amazing and place is really quirky. Thank you all so much xx
Amazing food, the staff were extremely attentive even though they were very busy, fabulous atmosphere, we will 100% be back.
I absolutely love this place. The food is fantastic, the service when you eat in or take out is always friendly, polite and genuine and the drinks are really good too. Had a few takeaways both delivery and collection and they were absolutely spot on and just as big as when you eat in. I think we will be visiting Elder and Wolf for many years to come yet!
I recently visited for the first time in the summer. I love everything about this place, it has a great vibe, the staff are so friendly, the decor is great. Although we were there early evening it had a great buzz inside. The food was great right up my street, we all ordered different meals and none of us were disappointed. The quality of the food is great and all tastes so fresh. I’ve been raving about this place to everyone since and will definitely be back.
I couldn’t be more positive and complimentary of Elder and Wolf and just love this place. I’ve been so many times and I’m always blown away by the gorgeous food, cocktails and mocktails, but also the staff who are so friendly and just lovely! The food is always so fresh and delicious the chefs do a fab job. I love the cocktail choice and mocktails as I’m currently pregnant. My husband loves the IPA beer! Even if they’re super busy, they always accommodate us. We’ve had take outs which again are always outstanding. So happy such a fabulous little business is thriving and doing so well. Our last visit was with friends who live in Sunderland and had never been. They were both wowed as we always are and said the food and service was 10/10. Can’t wait to come back in coming weeks.
Called up for a table one Thursday night and was told they were fully booked all evening but we could pop along to see if we could get a table in the front of the restaurant. We travelled the 10 miles to see if we could get in and luckily we got one of the high seated tables in the entrance by the bar. The staff are all super friendly and chatty, they make you feel welcome. We both ordered a pint, 1 chicken kebab & 1 mixed kebab which was lamb and chicken, along with a side of halloumi fries to share and 2 dips. The food came within 5 minutes even though they were busy & the restaurant was full. It is presented so well, on a delicious freshly made flat bread, salad and pomegranate seeds on top which goes well with the chilli & garlic dressings they put on top of the kebab. The meat was delicious and very well cooked. Portions are plentiful and the halloumi fries were unreal – so tasty!! The bill came to £50 which is well worth it for the quality and quantity of food, it was very filling. I would absolutely go back and would highly recommend!!
Came here as walk in customers and were told it would be a fairly long wait as it was super busy. We decided to grab a drink and wait and really glad we did. We managed to get a table in less than 20 minutes and food service was very swift after that. I had the vegan pizza which was delicious – it had lovely fresh ingredients. Would have been even better with a bit of vegan cheese but that’s me being really picky! Washed down with a lovely gin cocktail and a great funky, friendly atmosphere. Finally a place in Whitley bay that seems to be catching up with the rest of the country in terms of service, food and atmosphere – we’ll definitely be back!
4 of us dined early Saturday evening, and this place is awesome! You will be very full indeed, there is nothing on the menu you won’t be tempted by – the steak pizza, the beef tacos or lamb kebabs, all of them are awesome! And Red Stripe on tap means you feel like you’re on holiday. The staff are friendly and efficient without being OTT. Great place, and we will be back.
Excellent food, fantastic music. Stayed longer than planned due to playlist. Lovely staff. Will be back!
I came here for lunch with my sisters and we were just in heaven!! I can see others raving about the halloumi fries and they aren’t exaggerating, they were absolutely gorgeous. I could eat them all day every day. We also ordered the chicken kebab and the chilli beef taco to share between the three of us and this was more than enough food – the portions are huge and the restaurant itself is really cool, gorgeous and quirky interior and the staff were lovely. I don’t have a bad word to say about the place, only extreme praise. Can’t wait to go back.
Four of us went having booked a table for 8.30pm on a Saturday night, after reading you get the table for the rest of the evening after 8.00pm. What a fab place very busy but staff very attentive. Couldn’t decide what to eat as it all looked nice as it went past on huge wooden boards, great cocktail list, good range of IPAs and fab background music. Two of us opted for the posh kebab which was huge with 4 long pieces of minced lamb which was so tasty, on a flatbread and a bed of salad and pomegranate seeds, served with 4 little accompaniments. One had the chicken kebab which was similar and the fourth had tacos with chili beef which I tasted and will defo try next time. All in all a wonderful evening oh and ps do try the halloumi fries – amazing 🙂
We visited this restaurant as a walk in after trying to book a table but they were fully booked. We were taken straight to a table and the service was amazing. What was even better was the food we had. Tacos unbelievable and chicken kebab on flatbread even better to the ones we have had in Turkey. Excellent service, amazing place. Will definitely be back. Love this restaurant!
We came for our anniversary on a busy Saturday night. The staff were friendly and accommodating and there was a lovely atmosphere. The couple on the table next to us were yelling at each other from the second they sat down, but as soon as their food arrived they just fell into an appreciative silence. Elder and Wolf’s mixed kebab is clearly doing wonders for relationships across the north-east.
Been here several times now, absolutely love the place! The beef tacos and lamb kebab are incredible and if you can fit them in with the generous portion sizes some halloumi fries are awesome too!! The restaurant itself has a really chilled atmosphere and staff are always really attentive! And as for reviews I’ve read saying the food is expensive, this just baffles me as I prices are extremely reasonable for both the food and drinks!! A restaurant I want to go to again and again!!!
Whilst visiting Whitley Bay for the weekend we chose to eat here because of its reviews and informality – you can walk in on a Saturday night and they seem to welcome it. Delicious halloumi fries, beef tacos and mixed meat kebabs (Northumbrian lamb and chicken) – will definitely be back and tell friends and family about it. Wood fired ovens, freshly baked flatbreads – yummy.
Gorgeous food, Great music and atmosphere. Friendly and upbeat service. Would hugely recommend!! (Would recommend halloumi fries and steak bake pizza- both were fabulous).
We had our first visit here last night and it definitely will be the first of many! What an original funky and fabulous place! The staff are just so happy friendly and welcoming very chilled too with fast easy service! The decor is beautiful very artistic and fun! The open log stove was blaring when we arrived absolutely stunning ! The food was absolutely amazing too super fresh tasty and original! being vegetarian I was in absolute heaven with all the choice and my hubby being non veggie was equally happy with the choices too which is very rare! Oh had to sample the cocktails too which are amazing and reasonably priced ! What a fabulous place true hidden gem so happy to have this lovely lil haven in Whitley Bay ! Fab place! Thanks lovely guys !
Absolutely amazing! Both the kebab & the kebab pizza are top class! Good service and very very reasonable prices. One of my favourite restaurants in the north east!
Dined here this lunchtime, and really enjoyed our meals. We were the first customers in on opening at 12pm, and within half an hour the restaurant was almost full, I’d probably advise booking ahead if possible. Our first visit here, and it was from reading reviews on trip advisor that sold this restaurant to us. Food was excellent, very tasty and colourful! Generous sizes too, and the staff – great. We ordered a Portuguese chicken kebab, Portuguese chicken pizza and the Goats cheese pizza, with a side of hallumi fries. ( don’t leave this place without trying the fries). We would definitely visit again, this place is quirky and from the outside it’s deceiving to see the real size and ambiance of the restaurant. Highly recommend.
Being renowned as a fussy eater it’s often difficult to find places to accommodate my limited tastes. Luckily for me Elder and Wolf is a gem, had a fantastic night out with friends, excellent food, drink and atmosphere with extremely friendly staff. Can’t wait to go back – try the Geordie Pizza, you will not be disappointed. Success!
Normally I head to Newcastle for food but decided to have a walk along the coast and head into Elder and Wolf after reading an article in the press. Sunny week night and we got there about 7.30 without a booking……it was very busy for a week night. A very friendly lady managed to squeeze us in at the front window. After we got there a steady stream of people arrived and were turned away!!! We both opted for the lamb kebab and I just managed to finish mine but my other half struggled and left a bit. Pizzas also looked really good. Definitely recommend but book a table or you might be disappointed!!
Due to there being 5 of us I booked a table via there txt service- very very helpful! When we arrived at 7:45 the place was packed- on a Wednesday night! It had a great atmosphere and the staff were really welcoming.
We all had the kebabs- a mix of the lamb and chicken. They were amazing. So tasty and well presented. The food came quick after ordering but we were never rushed off our table.
The kebabs are around £12 but totally worth it. I wouldn’t recommend needing a starter or a side dish with it.
Overall a brilliant experience. Excellent staff and excellent food.
Went with my wife and daughter. Booked in advance so no problem with a table. Loved the funky atmosphere and buzz about the place. Staff were all friendly and fun. The menu is quite simple but everything cooked fresh. And the portions are huge. No need for sides. 3 excellent meals plus drinks for under £60. Fantastic value. We’ll be back.
Oh my god the halloumi fries…. Anyway, walked past this place so many times since we moved to Cullercoats 3 months ago and thought how cool it looked and finally got around to booking. And you really must book ahead by the way. The only restaurant I’ve been in for ages where they didn’t bother us 5 minutes into the meal asking if everything’s ok. They don’t need to. We had the posh lamb kebab and chilli beef tacos. Prices are what they are, but be assured they are wholly representative of the quality of the food. Very pleasant and attentive staff. Almasty IPA in the bar, followed by a very good Malbec with our food. So impressed. Did I mention the halloumi fries…?
What a fab trendy hideout. Very friendly staff. Rustic and bang on trend decor. Food was AMAZING!!!! Kebabs and pizza were seriously lush. Cocktails and choice of drinks were good. Cant wait to go back!! 100% worth a visit.
Staff could not do enough for you! Cocktails and food exceptional! As a restaurant manager I’m very hard to please and this place exceeded my expectations. I will definitely hurry back.
Arrived at dinner time last night on a busy Saturday and E&W went out of their way to squish us in to the busy schedule. We had drinks and sides, waited 20 mins then got a great table and had, as ever, the best kebabs and tacos in the north east. Don’t hesitate to go here, they’re awesome.
Small and informal, select menu with fantastic options, the food was beautifully presented and big enough to share if you could bear to. Strawberry gin was delicious and worked surprisingly well with my wonderful, spicy posh lamb kebab. Would highly recommend and can’t wait to go back.
Exceptional meal at Elder and Wolf tonight. Despite the fact we couldn’t get booked and had to wait a short while for a table, the attentive staff and devine cocktails made up for this. The food was ridiculously flavoursome and fresh, we were secretly delighted by the fact we were too full by the massively generous portions and had to take glorious left overs home in a box. I could not rate this restaurant highly enough, from its fabulous interior and decor, upbeat Latin American music and truly delicious scran I will 100% be returning! Thank you to the lovely accommodating hostess and her staff. 10/10 xx
Ate here on a very busy evening last night with 3 friends. We were seen to quickly, the staff were very friendly and chatty and I loved everything about the presentation of the place. The food exceeded my expectations, we shared the lamb kebab, halloumi plater, goats cheese pizza and the steak pizza. Presented well and tasted fantastic, I will be back in the near future.
Three friends and I went to Elder and Wolf for an 8.30pm reservation this Friday. We were warmly greeted by the owner and shown to our table. The place was full and there was a fantastic buzz around this very popular restaurant. They now have a license to sell drink as previously this was a BYO establishment. All wines etc. were reasonably priced and we were recommended an Australian red which was delicious. We all tried different dishes from flatbread pizzas to Lamb Kebabs and Nachos. All were delicious and very generously sized. The homemade coleslaw was fantastic! The whole evening was excellent with the service from the young enthusiastic staff worth a huge mention. This local new business has certainly hit upon a winning combination and should be praised for the great service delicious food and ‘fun’ atmosphere. You MUST book to avoid disappointment at the weekend though as this little gem is rightly so very popular.
The food here is exciting – it’s bright and beautiful with interesting flavours and presentation. The ambience is also really good and the staff are friendly. A really enjoyable place to eat.
I completely love this place. The food is absolutely outstanding, the design of the space is cool and fun, and generally the place just has a wicked vibe about it. It’s also worth noting that the staff are absolutely first class – they are always so warm and welcoming, attentive and generally lovely. As a Whitley Bay resident it is great to see a place like this opening on our doorstep that offers something different and distinct, and I have no doubt they’ll go from strength to strength. If you’re down the coast, check this place out – you won’t be disappointed.
Saturday night, hadn’t booked but really needed a family treat. Despite being properly busy the welcoming staff squeezed us in and so glad they did! The food is fresh, tasty, excellent quality and even colourful. These guys really know what they’re doing and service was quick and efficient despite clearly being (deservedly) pretty full. We had both veggie and meat dishes and everything was polished off by four very happy diners. Decor is modern and eclectic, a mixture of shabby chic and arty, a perfect complement to the wood-fired oven in the open kitchen. We love eating out and this place didn’t disappoint. Nearest in style and quality we’ve tried is Jamie Oliver’s ( honestly) but this is local and not quite like anywhere else. Definitely going back, definitely recommend it to you.
I’ll say this now…..order the lamb kebab! Have been twice now to this restaurant. Staff have been lovely and accommodating. They could see I was heavily pregnant and went out of their way to get me a lower seat in the back of the restaurant. I’ve eaten the tacos and the lamb kebab. Both were lovely but I think they put some magic ingredient into the kebab that makes you feel great! Would definitely recommend!
Excellent! Nice atmosphere with a buzz – only a small niggle – very noisy but then every table had every chair taken so maybe I am being a bit to picky but we did struggle hearing each other so ‘chat’ was limited or we spoke loudly!!
Food was very delicious – 3 x lamb kebabs 1 x beef tacos – maybe a little ‘warning’ that even the ‘slaw’ has a real ‘kick’ to it…… never had coleslaw that was ‘hot’ wi spice. As well as the food being excellent so was the service so need I write any more except we will return and thank you …… to be recommended and will be!
Busy little place that was recommended to me for its posh kabab. It didn’t disappoint we hadn’t booked but we were lucky a table had cancelled (poor them they missed out big time) but we were kindly given a table for 45mins as I can appreciate people were booked after us so I was really impressed with all of the staff and the food is unreal I mean it will hold its own against some of the best places Iv eaten in Newcastle for a little place it’s packed with great staff who cannot do enough for you and food that you will make you go back for more. Will defiantly be back again (pork kabab yummy)
Best posh kebabs in the world. Brilliant atmosphere and brilliant food. Loved it when it was byob and now even better you can buy booze from them!
We came to Elder and Wolf not 100% sure of what to expect. When we came through the door it was extremely busy, but within a couple of minutes we were seated. Our drinks order was taken promptly and then after a few minutes to think the food was ordered too. Everything was exceptional, quality meat beautifully presented. We ordered way too much food, but we boxed it up, took it home and had a beautiful snack later. We will be back.
We were lucky enough to get ourselves a table at 7pm on a Saturday night after weeks and weeks of trying. The place was packed and the atmosphere was fantastic. The pints of IPA were lush and the firsts one arrived shortly before beautifully crafted and very tasty food started to arrive. The staff did a really really good job of firing the food out whilst the bar staff worked at what was easily a million miles an hour pulling cocktails together!
I can’t rave about this place enough. You will be joining a family you never new you had!
We loved everything about this place from the relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff to the amazing food! The food was sensational, there is no other way to describe it! We ordered the lamb kebab and steak pizza with a side order of halloumi and garlic bread. Big mistake as the portions were huge! Luckily we got to take away what we couldn’t eat and got to enjoy it all over again the next day for lunch! The staff were so friendly and took time out to chat to us and recommend us some places to go after for drinks. I absolutely love this place and cannot recommend it highly enough!
Great food, great atmosphere and my rowdy kids were made to feel welcome, if you are considering visiting Whitley for food then your search ends here. For your info, invest in the posh lamb kebab, it was a spiritual experience!
Greeted by very friendly staff that took us straight to our table, bearing in mind they were very busy. Drinks ordered, food ordered. There were 6 of us so we decided to split a pizza and a kebab between each couples. We went for the ‘posh kebab’ and the ham and mushroom pizza. Pizza was very nice but the kebab was amazing. Huge too. Lots of pieces of spiced lamb kofta on a bed of salad on top on a flat bread. Very well presented, fresh and very tasty. Cant wait to go back!
I turned up without a booking here tonight and even though it was super busy, they managed to squeeze myself and the three children (aged 3-12) in. The service was brilliant, they couldn’t do enough to help. The gin was great, perfectly served with a twist of cucumber and star fruit. The food was very good, my 12 year old declared it the best she’s ever eaten and could live off the tomato pizza sauce for the rest of her life. The platter was great, good balance of tastes. Generous portions. Really nicely presented. Would recommend it early doors for families, and would love to take my partner here for what I’m sure would be another late night out. If you get a chance, pop in, really could not fault it.
Absolutely amazing! I can’t recommend this place enough. Food is out of this world and Portion sizes are very generous, so much so I had to take the remainder home . I strongly suggest a side order of the halloumi alongside your pizza or kebab, you won’t be disappointed!
Staff are wonderful make you feel so welcome. Can’t wait for my next visit!I live round the corner and its taken me this long to visit this place….shame on me! The whole experience from start to finish was brilliant. We had the chilli beef pizza, halloumi platter and posh kebab shared between 3 and I can’t fault any of them, even the side salad and slaw was tasty and really well presented. We will be back very soon and I hope they win the kebab awards they’ve been nominated for as they really do deserve it!
We had lunch today at elder & wolf, some of the best food I have enjoyed in the area in a long time, we have been a few times before but the attention to detail in the pork taco sharing platter would make any chef proud to serve.. Every signal flavour was perfect, with a good service and comfortable environment. Hats off to the chefs!
The atmosphere was buzzing and I was excited to get a pizza from that wood burning oven! My expectations were high, especially after reading about the Evening Chronicle raving about their Posh Kebab.
Elder & Wolf didn’t let me down, the staff were excellent from the get go, always happy and smiling, floating between tables, making sure everything was well. We ate in the back room, with the log burner and this amazing mural covering the wall. The later it got, the more packed the place got which is what produced an amazing vibe!
We ate at Elder and Wolf for the first time on Friday and had such a lovely night. The staff were really friendly without being intrusive and the restaurant itself had a really warm, inviting atmosphere (can’t wait to go again when they have the fire lit in the back room!) We both had pizzas and a garlic bread to share and we were really impressed with how good the food was. Such a great concept for everything they serve to be made in a wood fired oven and as others have commented, it’s fantastic to have a place like this in Whitley Bay. We need more restaurants like this!
Fabulous night at Eldèr and Wolf. Food absolutely delicious, service second to none. Ambiance wonderful. Would recommend this fab place wholeheartedly. A must visit place. Get yourselves there and partake of their astronomic delights. Will have to return.
Tasty wood-fired food (from pizzas to posh kebabs) with excellent and friendly service, all wrapped up in a trendy and relaxed restaurant. Half the walls are artwork, there’s skateboards and disco balls but it feels effortless and you’ll leave feeling cooler.
We had a fabulous evening, food was perfect, we had platters and pizza and devoured every scrap! Really lovely atmosphere, chilled and just what Whitley Bay needs!
Popped in today with 4 other friends. We had a margherita pizza, 2 ham and wild mushroom pizzas, and 2 halloumi flatbreads. The service was great, which was unexpected for such a new opening. The toppings were loaded with big and delicious flavors. Presentation was really spot on (the edible flowers on the flatbreads were a big hit). All very good. But those wood-fired flatbread / pizza bases? Tremendous! Great recipe and execution there. Very fluffy yet substantial with the perfect light amount of char for that hint of smoke you want. I’ve had a lot of great Neapolitan / artisanal pizza around the world and this was unique and delicious compared to them all. What a great addition to the neighborhood! Will be back many times to try more of the menu.
What a fantastic dinner at Elder and Wolf, posh kebabs and pizza. Food is amazing, lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Will definitely be coming back!!
“Amazing food all cooked fresh in front of you in a huge wood burning oven and brought to your table by the happiest staff we have ever come across!”
“It’s rare you go to a place where you walk out and you are already planning your next visit straight away. Honestly the best pizza I’ve ever had. Everything’s homemade making it fresh and vibrant and the interior is spot on. So excited about this place”.
“Lovely relaxed restaurant, friendly welcoming staff with nothing being too much trouble. I had the posh lamb kebab. Huge fluffy light flatbread, tender lamb full of flavour, aoli, salsa, all set off with a sprinkling of pomegranate seeds. No flavour overpowered another and it was all beautifully balanced. From a table of five, not one of us could completely finish the food, even though we tried our hardest as it was so tasty. Several of my friends had the chicken kebab and said the flavour of the marinated chicken was amazing. Will definitely go back -and since it seemed like most of the customers were repeat business, it’s obvious we won’t be alone!
“Four of us visited here on Saturday night, our first visit and were welcomed by lovely friendly staff, we sat in the back room which has a great relaxed atmosphere and a wonderful open fire. Whilst waiting for our meals we enjoyed the most delicious flatbreads and dips as we sipped our chilled prosecco and beers. When our mains arrived we were blown away! They looked sooo good, huge portions and were absolutely gorgeous! All of us cannot wait to return and sample every single item on the menu! A real gem of a restaurant.”
“The food here is fantastic! I’ll definitely be going back. I tried their tacos – were supposed to be pull pork but they had none left so it was pull beef (this didn’t bother me as I like both). The beef was melt in your mouth! My partner had the posh lamb kebab and he said it was lovely so many different flavors running through it.All members of staff were lovely and welcoming. The deco and feeling of the place was lovely and relaxed!”
Went here last night with my partner and another couple the food portions were very very healthy and the flavour of the food from the wood fired oven is unreal the prawn and samphire pizza was amazing.”
“The best pizzas going. Definitely one of the best eateries on the coast. Portion sizes are amazing, I can’t recommend the halloumi platter enough – although it’s a pretty close call as nothing on the menu disappoints, whether you’re a meat eater or veggie/vegan. Service is always warm and a great chilled ambiance with warmth from the wood burners and a charming mural on the wall that you get lost exploring with your eyes! I would take anyone and everyone here”
“The soundtrack to our visit started with The Verve, I knew I was going to love it! Fantastic food, fantastic service and very chilled. We were with our little girl and staff were so friendly and accommodating. I can’t wait for a ‘grown ups’ only visit . . Thanks so much!”
It was quite busy but we managed to get a table our pizzas were delicious, I had the fig, Parma ham and basil pizza and I would highly recommend it, it came with a lovely tomato and chilli dip to dip the crust in. All of the food looked delicious and it was reasonably priced £23.00 for 2 pizzas with non alcoholic beverages.
Wonderfully warm welcome and the place is beautiful! Fresh, modern and interesting.
A talking piece on the back wall just sophisticated to get away with with kids ☺️.
I loved all of the deco and it has a buzz about it rare in Whitley Bay. The oven baking is a really attractive point and the fact it’s run by a family very sweet. I was raving about it whilst there and SO refreshing for the coast. The price very reasonable too. I do recommend and will go again.
We will definitely go back.”Called in for a bite to eat and a catch up with friends. Great food, friendly staff, fab atmosphere. We will definitely be returning. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.”
“Fantastic food and really lovely friendly service – one of the best places we have eaten in the north east. The food is brilliantly thought out and prepared and perfect for all ages. The tacos and pulled pork with lots of really tasty and interesting sauces and great slaw were truly wonderful. The pizza – and particularly the dough – was delicious too. All the staff were friendly, decor nicely quirky and simple (but still all very comfy) and the atmosphere was fab with great music. Delighted to have discovered this and will be back. Maybe tomorrow!”
My favourite part of E&W though is the sort of nonchalant feel to it. “Hey guys come chill in the back of my living room for a few hours, have a drink and simmer the night away.” I’ll be back with a reservation and a bottle of wine.
“We went here for a Parish Trip out and everyone found something they wanted to eat. The food is really good, all prepared in front of you and the portions are generous. Definitely worth visiting.”
“Right from the start the staff were amazingly friendly and helpful with regards my gluten free daughter and whenever i texted them with another question their response was straight away, friendly and accommodating. This was the theme for the evening as they were extremely relaxed and helpful, even though they were busy. The food was gorgeous with the mixed kebab full of flavour and the halloumi platters and flat breads going down well as well. There was a lovely feel to the place and it was like eating at a friend’s house who also happens to be a great cook.
“Fantastic food, relaxed atmosphere and welcoming staff what else could you ask for?”
“Food was lovely – flat breads are exceptional relaxed and good service – could not want much more for a lovely lunch – seen reviews about price – not cheap but my lamb kebab was worth it!”
“Being new to the area we weren’t sure what to expect but by the time we left we were blown away by how good this place was. All of the food is made almost right in front of you and from the moment it arrives at the table you can tell that it is genuine, wholesome and made with love. The staff are just lovely and we’re looking forward to returning sometime soon. Absolutely 5 stars!!”.
“This place is like a little piece of heaven. The food is out of this world. We had the lamb and chicken kebab and smoked ham pizza. The staff are very friendly. It hasn’t got a licence, so we took our own alcohol. We will be back!”
“Wonderful ambience and extremely welcoming staff. We had a lovely corner table with comfy sofas. We ordered posh kebabs both chicken and mixed and also Margherita flatbread. All five of us agreed the food was gorgeous, very tasty and fresh. The chicken I had was cooked beautifully and all the different flavours of the salsa, pomegranate salad and slaw all enhanced each other beautifully and wow fabulous flatbread. Best of all though was the lovely friendly staff even though it was nearly closings we were not rushed at all. Excellent”
“We have visited a few times now sometimes with friends late evening and early evening with family. Every time I have visited Elder and Wolf I have loved it, I have worked my way through the menu everything cooked to perfection, fresh and fast. My favourite being the Posh Kebab ! All staff were so accommodating to my three year old, I think the relaxed atmosphere in this place rubs off on diners. My daughter was so well behaved and polished off her food ! Will definitely be back time and time again.
The restaurant was buzzing, great atmosphere, helped along by the lovely decor and how busy it always is. Service was very good and attentive. We went for three vegetarian/vegan main courses to share and brought our own prosecco. Excellent and very good value night out. Will hopefully do it again soon. If I can get booked!
